I was raised Catholic and even taught in a Catholic School for 2 years, but in my 20’s, I started seeing the church differently and left. My main reason at the time was because I was in a very unhappy marriage, and yet the church said we couldn’t divorce!
I thought that because I made a mistake in marriage, a loving God would not say “too bad. You are stuck in this marriage forever!”
A few years later I married a wonderful loving man, and a loving God would be happy for me. I am now 81 years old, and have been married for 34 years.
If I had “obeyed” the church, I would have had a very unhappy life.
I started questioning many more things about Catholicism and saw it more as a cult, actually.
And now, with this Pope, I am stunned and appalled at how anyone can have any faith in him as a good Christian.
Telling people to get vaccinated? What on earth made him think he could dictate that?

Whoever told your mother to stay in an abusive marriage was dead wrong and not a well catechised Catholic (even if it was a priest). The Cathollic Church states you do not have to stay with an abusive spouse, or an alcoholic spouse or the like. You are permitted to divorce in those situations.

The Catholic Church does not permit divorce. It would allow for separation for a period of time to try to heal differences. In certain cases a marriage may be annulled if it was never deemed to be a marriage in the first place.

I beg to differ - the church is against re-marriage after a divorce. However, it has created a way around that with annulment of the marriage if it can be shown that the 2 adults entered into the marriage with at least one of them having a lack of capacity or lack of consent in addition to other reasons. The catechism (2382-2386) states that "Civil divorce might be necessary for the protection and care of the spouses and their children". Back in 1914 divorce was a Cultural scandal looked down upon by nearly all religions and society.
You are citing a catechism of the Novus Ordo church which is not the true, Catholic Church. The Novus Ordo church was born in Vatican II and teaches a false religion as all other invented sects.
So really isn't annulment just a fancy word for divorce? Because I can't find annulment in the Bible. I find divorce and the only way one is released from it is when their spouse dies. Otherwise it says they are committing adultery if they remarry. Or they can be divorced because of sexual immorality.
I've been divorced and remarried so I am not calling anyone out. Just curious as to how the church can decide who to annull and who not to. Because according to the Bible the ones who have had their marriages annulled may not be aware of the adultery by remarrying. Or is that explained? Teresa many are in your position. What's done is done in the past. What matters is the present and the future. Being aware that one may have made an error and now its time to do better and be positive. If it worries you, by all means take it up in sincere prayer. Focus on what you can change in your life. Make some personal time to read the Bible daily. Psalms, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes are very soothing. Think about this. King David was a chosen ancestor of Jesus. Son of Jesse. All because of God's promise to Abraham that because of him, all the earth would be blessed. Actually God was paving the way for his only begotten son ( who was with him in Heaven at that time) to come to earth and restore true worship and offer himself as a perfect human sacrifice to balance the scale of justice, Adams wilful sin.
Imagine now David was this special one chosen, he sees Bathsheba and sins with her, then sends her husband to the front line where he is killed. She falls pregnant and that baby dies. And he was an integral part in the ancestry of Jesus through Mary. What a wonderful privilege. So let the past go and work on the present and future.
God's view on immorality and when divorce is scriptural is clear. Death and adultery. Then remarriage is acceptable. There is no shortcut. But this is also not the World's' view. I mentioned earlier that there were other reasons, they qualified for divorce to protect the innocent party, but did not necessarily mean the innocent party could remarry until the situation changed and the offending party remarried.

I also have seen in the past Cardinals or priest getting moved to another church when they were found to be doing this. That doesn't really happen in the other denominations as much. Faith is interesting. Firstly it is not a possession of all people. Hebrews 11;1 explains what it actually is. vs 6 says without it it is impossible to please God. But why? isn't faith alone enough? apparently not. James 2;26 Faith without works is dead. non existent. So people may say I have faith, but actually their actions will either prove or disprove that fact. A man of faith would not lie steal or kill, or beat his wife or be a glutton or engage in dishonest gain. What he says is irrelevant. It's what he does as a person. Does he display the fruitage of God's spirit? in his private life and public life?

The church lost its way centuries ago. Power and money can and does provide a toxic drug for humans. To assume that the clergy somehow cannot be corrupted is naive. It is no different than many other modern day myths. People equate their doctor to a position of worship when in fact doctors are no different than Joe the plumber. It is their line of work. There are well documented books regarding the corruption in the Catholic hierarchy. I will share with anyone who has an interest. I was raised a Catholic. In a large family. Both maternal and fraternal sides were Catholics. My journey through life made me question long held beliefs. There are many questions that indicated that those in leadership of the church did not represent my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The leadership live like kings and in fact refer to Cardinals as Princes. They adore themselves in the best garments and gold and jewels. I am American and I agree with you. The sad fact is that America has gotten lazy and fat. I keep thinking about my dad, grandpa, how they would not put up with this government. They would have taken a pitchfork or other tool whatever they had to and would have already stopped these devil's. Here we are just waiting for someone to save us and people are blind because they are thinking Donald Trump is going to do it for them. Or others thinking that Biden is going to save them. I was raised Catholic and even taught in a Catholic School for 2 years, but in my 20’s, I started seeing the church differently and left. My main reason at the time was because I was in a very unhappy marriage, and yet the church said we couldn’t divorce!
I thought that because I made a mistake in marriage, a loving God would not say “too bad. You are stuck in this marriage forever!”
A few years later I married a wonderful loving man, and a loving God would be happy for me. I am now 81 years old, and have been married for 34 years.
If I had “obeyed” the church, I would have had a very unhappy life.
I started questioning many more things about Catholicism and saw it more as a cult, actually.
And now, with this Pope, I am stunned and appalled at how anyone can have any faith in him as a good Christian.

Whoever told your mother to stay in an abusive marriage was dead wrong and not a well catechised Catholic (even if it was a priest). The Cathollic Church states you do not have to stay with an abusive spouse, or an alcoholic spouse or the like. You are permitted to divorce in those situations.

I beg to differ - the church is against re-marriage after a divorce. However, it has created a way around that with annulment of the marriage if it can be shown that the 2 adults entered into the marriage with at least one of them having a lack of capacity or lack of consent in addition to other reasons. The catechism (2382-2386) states that "Civil divorce might be necessary for the protection and care of the spouses and their children". Back in 1914 divorce was a Cultural scandal looked down upon by nearly all religions and society.

So really isn't annulment just a fancy word for divorce? Because I can't find annulment in the Bible. I find divorce and the only way one is released from it is when their spouse dies. Otherwise it says they are committing adultery if they remarry. Or they can be divorced because of sexual immorality.

Because according to the Bible the ones who have had their marriages annulled may not be aware of the adultery by remarrying. Or is that explained? Teresa many are in your position. What's done is done in the past. What matters is the present and the future. Being aware that one may have made an error and now its time to do better and be positive. If it worries you, by all means take it up in sincere prayer. Focus on what you can change in your life. Make some personal time to read the Bible daily. Psalms, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes are very soothing. Think about this. King David was a chosen ancestor of Jesus. Son of Jesse. All because of God's promise to Abraham that because of him, all the earth would be blessed. Actually God was paving the way for his only begotten son ( who was with him in Heaven at that time) to come to earth and restore true worship and offer himself as a perfect human sacrifice to balance the scale of justice, Adams wilful sin.

God's view on immorality and when divorce is scriptural is clear. Death and adultery. Then remarriage is acceptable. There is no shortcut. But this is also not the World's' view. I mentioned earlier that there were other reasons, they qualified for divorce to protect the innocent party, but did not necessarily mean the innocent party could remarry until the situation changed and the offending party remarried.

To be fair, all denominations have these sick O's. I know the subject is not about the other denominations but singling out just one on this matter wouldn't be fair. I believe all that harm the children should be punished.
I also have seen in the past Cardinals or priest getting moved to another church when they were found to be doing this. That doesn't really happen in the other denominations as much. I don't think it's very Godly to hide these types of people. I believe they should be cast out and fed to the wolves.

Faith is interesting. Firstly it is not a possession of all people. Hebrews 11;1 explains what it actually is. vs 6 says without it it is impossible to please God. But why? isn't faith alone enough? apparently not. James 2;26 Faith without works is dead. non existent. So people may say I have faith, but actually their actions will either prove or disprove that fact. A man of faith would not lie steal or kill, or beat his wife or be a glutton or engage in dishonest gain. What he says is irrelevant. It's what he does as a person. Does he display the fruitage of God's spirit? in his private life and public life?

The church lost its way centuries ago. Power and money can and does provide a toxic drug for humans. To assume that the clergy somehow cannot be corrupted is naive. It is no different than many other modern day myths. People equate their doctor to a position of worship when in fact doctors are no different than Joe the plumber. It is their line of work. There are well documented books regarding the corruption in the Catholic hierarchy. I will share with anyone who has an interest. I was raised a Catholic. In a large family. Both maternal and fraternal sides were Catholics. My journey through life made me question long held beliefs. There are many questions that indicated that those in leadership of the church did not represent my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The leadership live like kings and in fact refer to Cardinals as Princes. They adore themselves in the best garments and gold and jewels. I will end here by saying they do not practice the teachings of Christ.

Everything you say here is accurate. We are being forced to watch the destruction of the Catholic Church, and the number of voices raised in protest are disappointingly few. We need more clerics like Archbishop Vigano, and I applaud anyone who supports him.

I am American and I agree with you. The sad fact is that America has gotten lazy and fat. I keep thinking about my dad, grandpa, how they would not put up with this government. They would have taken a pitchfork or other tool whatever they had to and would have already stopped these devil's. Here we are just waiting for someone to save us and people are blind because they are thinking Donald Trump is going to do it for them. Or others thinking that Biden is going to save them. They do not see that the only division is amongst the people. Because the government is the same. I can not stand it that people are either left or right.

I have never trusted Pope or Cardinals etc, after learning the truth about some of them in United Kingdom, totally sick stories, Very disturbing. Even when caught the Police coudnt do anything to
arrest the Archbishop. He was moved for a while, then allowed to return. You can find this story
