What an outstanding article! There's just so much to drill down on! One that rang true to me was the Flexner Report & how Chiropractors were considered "quacks"!! In 1977 (I was 17) I had a tumor on my face, my parents did the "uncommon" and had me see an Asian doctor who attempted "cupping" to get rid of the lump. Then, a homeopathic doctor who offered certain serums to rid the lump from my face. My dad also had me on an exclusive carrot juice diet. None of these worked, but it was an amazing try to rid my body of the lump. I eventually went to UCLA & that's when madness began & the doctors noted on my medical records that my "other" medical alternative doctors were "quacks"!! Instead, UCLA blasted me with radiation treatment to my head, LIED & BETRAYED me & my parents...never telling us the degree of harm the radiation would cause. They LIED & BETRAYED me by saying I was going to die from the rhabdomyosarcoma they said I had. They THREATENED my parents by telling them if they stopped my chemo they would report them for "child neglect"!! They impressed FEAR upon my parents by saying the only way I could live was "radical" surgery: removal of part of my head, my left eye, & part of my brain! Guess why I'm still ALIVE?? I went cold-turkey on everything & recovered in less than 2 months! We know who the real QUACKS are & who the SANTANIC physicians are!! The radiation did "something" to dissolve the lump -- it happened after "2 short weeks"...& that's when the radiologists should have STOPPED everything! The lump/tumor had also pushed it's way into my mouth & that tissue "died" (shall we say) & dissolved... & drained through my mouth. Then the incision, where I had the biopsy, was never sutured & opened into a small hole. Now, the lump on my face started to dissolve & drained through that small hole. The oncologists & radiologists said nothing about this. It was odd, but effective, from the point of view of my parents & me...but not the doctors. Again, whatever was in my face responded to a couple weeks of radiation. Instead, the doctors (unfamiliar with what was happening) continued with "7" weeks of radiation (5 days a week) & proceeded with chemo (the poison that was killing me). I was "never" sick from the lump on my face, but my health spiraled from the chemo -- that's what chemo does!! I recovered when I ended everything & the lump on my face continued to dissolve & was gone! I have not seen an oncologist since. You may ask, why didn't we pull away from everything earlier? Yes...we should have. Think back...the 70s -- there was little open conversation about cancer. It definitely was viewed as a death sentence. My parents tried to do the right thing...& they finally did, but there was an unfortunate "trust" (back then) on hospitals & doctors & because I had an uncommon tumor, we trusted them far too long.

I would think treatment with the black salve would have saved you from the effects of radiation and chemo; but perhaps you didn't know about that. However, you had the courage to end all the treatments--bravo!
